We ship from warehouses in the US, the EU and Japan — whichever is closest to you. US and EU orders arrive in 4–12 business days; the handful of countries served from Japan take around 10. Business days count from dispatch rather than from when you order, and exclude weekends and public holidays. You'll get a tracking number by email the moment your parcel leaves the warehouse.
We only buy from fields grown without pesticides or chemicals. We ask each farmer directly how they manage their land, visit the plantation and processing facility ourselves, taste every harvest before committing, and check that the biodiversity around the fields is alive. Small family farms don't always carry paperwork — so we verify it in person instead.
Japanese green tea covers an enormous range, and choosing online isn't easy. If you've tried yours and it isn't for you, email info@nioteas.com within 30 days with your order number and a line on what you didn't enjoy. We'll send a different tea of equal or lower value, free. Nothing to post back — keep it, share it, or try brewing it cooler. Once per order.
Email info@nioteas.com within 30 days with your order number and a photo. We'll approve it, cover the return postage with a prepaid label or a reimbursement, and refund you — no restocking fee. Refunds go to your original payment method within 2 business days of the return reaching us; your bank may take another 5–20 to show it.
Unopened items in their original packaging can be returned within 30 days. Tea is sealed for hygiene, so opened packs can't come back — but the swap above covers exactly that situation. Return postage is yours unless the item arrived damaged, defective or incorrect.
Orders to the US and EU ship domestically from our local warehouse, so there's no customs charge and no duty. A small number of destinations are served from our Japan warehouse, where your own customs authority may apply import duty, VAT or a carrier handling fee on delivery. Those are set by your country, not by us. Ask before you order and we'll help you check.

This is my 3rd order for nakai. Loved that I never needed to add any sweetener as its already sweet enough for my taste buds. I like my matcha like this 🍵🥰
Buen umami y no amarga nada.
This was a beautiful tea from the outset. The powder itself has a chocolatey musky scent; dark lime in color, bitter to the tongue, thats turns almost nutty or like wheat grain in flavor. With little water & bamboo chasen/whisk it frothed quickly & beautifully. Brewing a dark grassy/jade color, highlighted by a lime/mint foam; the nose is sweet & musky, with notes of oatmeal. On first sip the matcha has a deep umami flavor, with bitter vegetal undertones, creamy, & finds a more oat like essence as it cools. Would definitely consume this in everyday use.
Great matcha!
I’ve tried several organic matchas, and this one from nakai tea garden really stands out. The powder is super fine and vibrant green — mixes easily with no clumps. The taste is smooth, fresh, and slightly sweet with no bitterness. I drink it every morning and it gives me calm, clean energy that lasts for hours — no jitters like coffee. The tin keeps it fresh and looks nice on the shelf too. Highly recommend if you want a high-quality, authentic Japanese matcha!
Not my favorite Matcha. I was drinking Makinohara Masudaen which I love. It was sweet and had almost no acidity. Then it was not available anymore and since then I have been struggling to find a true sweet Matcha.
I find the Wazuka Nakai Superior not sweet but also not bitter. It has very low acidity, which I appreciate, but in my opinion it is too vegetal. I like the thickness and the aftertaste. I don’t think I will buy it again.
This was a treat to myself and I am savouring it. Luckily the tea lives up to treat status! It is delicious by itself so this is the only way I have tasted it. It has a sweetness to it and is very smooth. It is a joy to prepare and enjoy. Love Nio Teas!
From the very first whisk, this matcha delivered an ultra-premium experience—lush, velvety, and incredibly smooth. The creaminess was next-level, with a rich umami that felt almost indulgent. It was easily one of the best bowls I’ve ever had.
That said, I noticed the texture and flavor began to dull slightly after the first few brews. I suspect this might be due to my storage method, not the tea itself—so I’m not holding that against it. I’ll definitely be giving it another go, stored properly this time.
Despite that hiccup, this still lands firmly in my top three. If you’re a matcha lover who appreciates smooth, elegant character—this one’s worth every gram.
This matcha is exacly what you would expect - velvety with sweet and umami flavours. I tend to dilute my matcha a bit more so it naturally turns more mild. I would definitely buy this one again.
By the time I got to my morning drinking spot, the foam on the matcha has fallen but it was there, I promise! ;-)
Love love LOVE this matcha. I drink this every single day and enjoy every blissful moment of it. After months of my daily dose, i have started noticing all its health benefits. I appreciate the fact that Nio Teas provide pesticide free matcha that tastes great. I've tried other matchas and this is the one thing worth the splurge!
A deep green matcha with a very fine, velvety powder that enchants and relaxes the eye.
When made into a pesto with a drop of water, it releases a roasted aroma with hints of chocolate, typical of the prized Okumidori cultivar.
On the palate, the taste is full but never overpowering, with a total absence of bitterness.
The umami is present but delicate, offering a pure velvet sensation. It glides from the mouth to the throat like silk.
What I love most is its persistence: sweet and endless, reminiscent of the taste of sugared almonds and milk candies.

Nio Teas wants a rating, so:
Tastes like rotting spinach, that is, it's hopefully seen better days.
Note to self: Don't buy matcha on sale and in the summer heat again.
Love Nio Teas and how they detail each matcha cultivar. So educational and makes me appreciate my matcha more. This is my favorite cultivar, has a deep rich umami flavor to it, and is one of the only matchas that I can drink plain.
